Give of Yourself and You Will Receive Tenfold

When you give, you open yourself up to new experiences and relationships, and you also open yourself up to receiving.

The concept of giving more in life is based on the belief that when you give more, you will receive more in return. It is a way of life that encourages generosity and selflessness, and can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Giving to others can come in many forms. From donating goods or services to volunteering your time, giving can be done for a variety of reasons. It can help out those in need, express gratitude, or simply spread kindness.

The Law of Giving & Receiving

“The second spiritual law of success, the Law of Giving and Receiving, is based on the fact that everything in the universe operates through dynamic exchange. Every relationship is one of give and take because giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. If we stop the flow of energy, we interfere with nature’s intelligence. We must give and receive in order to keep money, or anything we want, circulating in our lives.”

“The Law of Giving and Receiving is simple: If you want love, learn to give love; if you want attention and appreciation, learn to give attention and appreciation; if you want material affluence, help others to become materially affluent. If you want to be blessed with all the good things in life, learn to silently bless everyone with all the good things in life. The more you give, the more you will receive. In your willingness to give that which you seek, you will keep the abundance of the universe circulating in your life.”

“The best way to experience the Law of Giving and Receiving is to give a gift to everyone you come into contact with. This doesn’t have to be in the form of material things. The gifts of caring, affection, appreciation, and love are some of the most precious gifts you can give, and they don’t cost you anything.”

Why Give?

When people are asked why they give, the most common answers are: God wants me to; I feel better about myself; others need, and I have; I want to share; it's only right. But why do we really give? We give because we recognize that our own lives are enriched when we help others.

Demonstrates Kindness and Compassion

Giving is an excellent way to demonstrate appreciation, kindness, and compassion to others. It helps us build meaningful connections and relationships, as well as deepen our understanding of the world and those around us.

Gives Us Perspective

Rather than being overwhelmed by our own concerns and difficulties, we can gain a better understanding of the broader context when we focus on helping others. This can help to make our own worries and challenges seem less daunting.

A Feeling of Gratitude

Giving to others more not only shows our gratitude and appreciation but also helps us to feel more grateful for what we already have and the blessings we've been given. Studies have found that gratitude can bring us joy and help us focus on the positive.

Deeper Relationships With Those Around You

Giving more of yourself can lead to deeper relationships and a greater sense of fulfillment. It can also make us feel more connected to our communities and to those around us. Studies have found that giving to others often provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment because it can help us to feel connected and part of something bigger than ourselves.

Personal & Emotional Growth and Development

Giving can have a profound effect on our self-perception, leading to increased self-awareness and confidence. It can be an empowering and rewarding experience, allowing us to make a positive impact on our own lives and those of others. We can take pride in knowing that we have done something to help someone.

Better Job Performance and Career Success

Giving more in the workplace can lead to better job performance and career success. Research from the Harvard Business Review found that employees who gave more had higher job satisfaction and were more likely to be promoted. A Gallup study also revealed that giving more can result in increased productivity of up to 20%. Furthermore, the University of Michigan's Center for Positive Organizations noted that giving more can help build better relationships with colleagues by providing a sense of satisfaction and helping to foster trust and camaraderie.

The Power

of Intentions

A study published in 2013 by the National Academy of Sciences revealed that acts of genuine goodness can influence our genetic expression and health. B.L. Fredrickson led the research, which showed that our bodies can distinguish between actions taken for our own benefit and those taken for a noble purpose. The team found that different gene regulatory programs are used in each case. When a noble purpose is the goal, the CTRA gene profile is lowered. This gene profile is associated with diseases that affect the heart, and brain, and can cause tumour growth.

Additionally, the benefits of altruistic behaviour could be seen almost immediately after the good deed was performed. This suggests that even small gestures of kindness, such as donating to charity, holding a door open for someone, or simply having a conversation with a stranger, can have a lasting and positive impact on our health. Research has indicated that when the intention behind our acts is to benefit others, rather than ourselves, the result is often a healthier and more positive response from our body. In other words, when our acts of kindness come from a place of genuine care and compassion, the effects are magnified and our health can be improved as a result.

Giving More in Your Daily Life

There are many ways to incorporate giving more into your daily life. Here are some strategies to help you get started:

  • Volunteer: There are many opportunities to volunteer in your local community. Consider joining a local organization or helping out in a soup kitchen. If you don’t have time to volunteer in person, you can also look for virtual volunteering opportunities.

  • Donate: Donating goods or services is a great way to give back. Consider donating clothes, food, or books to a local shelter, or offering your skills to a local organization.

  • Give Your Time: Spend time with someone who needs a friend or mentor. Listen to them, offer advice, and help them find resources to help them reach their goals.

  • Give a Compliment: A simple gesture like giving someone a compliment can make a huge difference in their day. Take a few minutes to tell someone how much you appreciate them.

  • Do Random Acts of Kindness: Do something kind for someone without expecting anything in return. This could be as small as picking up litter on your walk, or as big as donating to a cause you care about.

  • Say Thank You: Take the time to thank people in your life who have helped you or made a difference. Showing your appreciation can help strengthen relationships and bring joy to both parties.

  • Givesome.com: Founded by two friends, Jay Whitelaw and Adam Pender, the mission of Givesome is to make giving more accessible. Jay and Adam had experienced the joy of giving and wanted to create a platform that would make it easier for others to do the same.

The idea for Givesome was born out of a simple question: “What if everyone in the world had the same opportunity to give back and make a difference?” This inspired Jay and Adam to create a platform that would provide everyone with the same access to giving, with the hope of making the world a better place.

The company has partnered with hundreds of nonprofit organizations in dozens of countries, offering people the opportunity to make a difference in whatever way they choose. This includes donating goods and services, volunteering time, or taking action on important causes.

Jay and Adam believe that “when we give more, we get more.” Through Givesome, they are making it easier for everyone to experience the joy of giving and make a positive impact on the world.

When it comes to giving, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Everyone has different resources and skills that they can give. Even the smallest of gestures can make a huge difference. It’s important to remember that it’s not always about the amount you give, but rather the thoughtfulness behind it.

Tips for Staying Motivated to Give More

  • Set Goals: Set realistic goals for yourself and break them down into smaller, achievable steps. Having a plan can help you stay motivated and on track.

  • Focus on the Positive: Focus on the positive impact that your giving has on others. This can help to keep you motivated and remind you of why you are giving in the first place.

  • Find Inspiration: Find inspiration in the stories of others who have achieved fulfillment through giving. These stories can help to remind you of the positive impact that your giving can have.

  • Get Support: Get support from friends and family who understand and support your giving efforts. Having a support system can help to keep you motivated and on track.

  • Take Time for Yourself: Taking time for yourself is important. Make sure to take breaks and do activities that help you to relax and recharge.
